Sean bought his 1980 RA40 Celica in 1988 from a Adelaide Toyota dealer (Salisbury Toyota). He happily drove the car around for four years with the clicks he racked up including a few motorkhanas and several interstate trips to Dubbo in NSW for the Celica Nationals.

It was the trips to Dubbo that got him enthused about doing a little extra to the car.  To change the image of the car and get involved in the flourishing small car show scene.  He spent the next four months stripping, rebuilding and making preparations for a full respray using a Protec two pack metallic blue that had a touch of violet twisted in.  All the badges were removed and all the holes were welded over while the front grill and plastic side panels were painted a metallic light grey.  The car, which is affectionately knows as "Blue Wire" now rolls on 14 inch chrome Speedy "Moon" wheels that have been sprayed on the inside of the rims in the same metallic blue that lives elsewhere on the vehicle.  They are fitted with 352 19560 x 14 Yokohamas.

The Toyota dealer (Salisbury Toyota) fully-rebuilt the two-litre 18R engine. Most of it has been coated with a layer of Mazda Impulse blue and is still running the standard carbie. The radiator and parts sprayed in the same Impulse blue paint while a fair bit of chrome, braided hose and heat-shrink wrapped wires and hoses eve further detail the engine bay. The exhaust system is fitted with a set of Motorvator extractors that have been painted with Plaski Kote utral high temp resistant white paint. They are accompanied by two inch exhaust system, a Hot Dog resonator, turbo muffler and a 2.25inch chrome tip.  Gearbox, coated in paint is Toyota 5 speed with a shortened shifter and strengthened clutch. Appearance of the under bonnet enhanced by smoothing out the firewall creases and filling all press stud and other holes.  Lowered suspension lowered to 1.5inches and incorporates Peddlers springs and gas shocks.

The interior of the car includes dark blue velour door skins. With matching white and blue inserts on the front and rear seats. Complemented by dark blue thick pile moulded carpets and black leather SAAS sports steering wheel.   Cargo area is equipped with special areas for emergency torch/warning light and first aid kit.

Sean fitted the sound system using Coustic radio cassette with a 10 stacker CD changer ' Pioneer GMH.144 amp and Pioneer TS-A6957  6 x 9  3 way speakers which pulls 180watts in the rear and Pioneer TS-C1002 mids and tweeters that pulls out 150 watts in the front. As well as a 12 inch Earthquake sub woofer boxed in the hatch. Also using Gold RCAs and Stinger speaker cable running all through the car.

Sean is quick to thank his fellow members of the Just 4's car club which was at the time of rebuild the biggest four cylinder club in South Australia. 

They were extremely supportive and helped through some of the difficult jobs he came across while completing the project.
